How will my family or next of kin know my wishes for my funeral and final disposition?

It is a good idea to talk to your loved ones about your preferences for funeral arrangements and final disposition, and to write down those wishes and keep them in an accessible, though secure, place.

Another good idea is to have your family attorney write down your wishes in a will or living will.

It is also an option to discuss arrangements with a local Funeral Director. Many funeral homes offer pre-planning services and seminars and are happy to meet with you to discuss your wishes and final plans. Pre-planning your funeral is becoming a very popular option, as most people do want the burden of planning the arrangements to fall on those loved ones left behind. In some areas, you also have the option of pre-paying funeral arrangements as well, which often “locks in” prices at current rates, saving money in the future.
